GE 'smart' microgrid project awarded $2M
NISKAYUNA -- GE Global Research in Niskayuna was awarded $2 million from the U.S. Department of Defense for a "smart" microgrid demonstration project at Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in California.
The project will test the use of on-site power generation and energy storage and how they can better interact with the overall electrical grid. General Electric will specifically work on microgrid control system technologies.
