The years-long controversy over the replacement for Fire Station 20 is one step closer to being over.
Wednesday morning, the City Council's public safety committee agreed to move the station to the northeast corner of 15th Avenue West and West Armor Street. The proposal goes before the full council Oct. 19.
"I am definitely persuaded that this is the best site for Fire Station 20," said Councilman Tim Burgess, committee chairman. "Not only does it meet all of the Fire Department levy goals and objectives, but the site is large enough that it allows for future expansion.
