Lasky kin re-emerges as Furniture Express
Lasky Furniture closed last year, but a great-grandson of Lasky founder Jacob Lasky is finding success in the trade.
Furniture Express Inc., under the leadership of 42-year-old Robert Berman, has opened four stores over the past year, bringing its total to six. Among them is a refurbished former Lasky store near 1-75 and Davison in Detroit.
Sales at Livonia-based Furniture Express are expected to reach $15 million this year. That's up from $1.3 million in Berman's first year of business in his first store, which opened in 1994 on Telegraph Road in Taylor.
