Valery Gergiev, the Russian super-conductor who is one of the hottest properties on the world podium, arrived in Birmingham on Monday in time to catch Thomas Trotter's lunchtime organ recital in the magnificentlyrefurbished Town Hall.
This was a trip down Memory Lane for Gergiev, for one of his first conducting appointments with a UK orchestra was here with the CBSO in 1989. But it was also a chance to hear the hall's Hill organ, awesomely restored to its former glory (and more).
