Officials from Turkey and Syria have held the first meeting of a new cooperation council, aimed at ending years of tension.
On Tuesday Ahmet Davutoglu, the Turkish foreign minister, led a high level cabinet delegation to the Syrian city of Aleppo for the meeting, which took place under a recent strategic agreement designed to improve ties.
Among the first measures enacted was a joint agreement to remove visa requirements for travel between the two countries.
