Jul. 27--FORT WAYNE, Ind.--Attracting the American International Freight air cargo hub was a double achievement for Fort Wayne International Airport because it went through the site-selection process twice.
The air cargo company had announced in May of 1997 it planned to relocate its hub to Fort Wayne from Evansville because the operation needed to expand.
And the company was close to finalizing a deal with the local airport when it was purchased by Kitty Hawk, the world's largest carrier dedicated to air freight, said Jim Reeves, Kitty Hawk president.
