For one long weekend each October, tiny Kohler, Wis., becomes the culinary capital of the Midwest, with a growing wine and food show that's catching up with similar gourmet extravaganzas in Aspen, Colo., Monterey, Calif., and Miami.
About 40 miles north of Milwaukee, the town of 2,000 expects 5,000 guests for the ninth Kohler Food and Wine Experience Oct. 22-25, hosted by the posh American Club inn. Its lineup of gourmet personalities includes Jacques Pepin, Lidia Bastianich and Marcus Samuelsson.
