More Magazines off the racks
The publishing world mourned the loss last week of Gourmet and three other Conde Nast magazines. But those were just the biggest names to find their heads on the chopping block.
In the first nine months of 2009, a total of 383 magazines shut down in North America, according to MediaFinder.com, the online database of U.S. and Canadian publications. Another 64 publications ceased print editions and went online-only. In the third quarter, 104 magazines folded.
