Lender to apparel manufacturers CIT Group Inc. may be grabbing headlines for its financial difficulties, but family-owned Rosenthal & Rosenthal Inc., which provides a similar service, is grabbing new clients.
Since midsummer, Rosenthal has received hundreds of calls from worried design firms and vendors, and has gained more than 20 clients, including big names like Steven Madden Ltd., to add to its roster of more than 400. Rosenthal may be tiny compared with CIT, but it counts high-profile designers such as Diane von Furstenberg and Carmen Marc Valvo among its clientele.
