ArQule Inc., of Woburn, Mass., said the European Medicines Evaluation Agency has designated ARQ-197 as an orphan product for the treatment of soft tissue sarcoma. Phase II data are expected to be available in early 2010. The product is partnered with Tokyo-based Daiichi Sankyo in the U.S., Europe, South America and the rest of the world, excluding Japan, China, South Korea and Taiwan, where Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co. Ltd., also of Tokyo, has exclusive rights for development and commercialization.
