SYDNEY, Oct 15 Asia Pulse - The Australian sharemarket opened higher with gains in all sectors after Wall Street's main index breached the 10,000-point mark for the first time in over a year.

At 1015 AEDT, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was up 57.7 points, or 1.19 per cent, at 4,888.8, while the broader All Ordinaries had added 58.3 points, or 1.21 per cent, to 4,892.3 points.

On the Sydney Futures Exchange, the December share price index contract was 55 points higher at 4,892, on a volume of 6,505 contracts.
