MELBOURNE, Oct 15 Asia Pulse - The Australian sharemarket rallied to a one-year high in intra-day trading on Thursday, boosted by a strong

offshore lead which lifted the local banking sector.

By 1200 AEDT, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was up 51.3 points, or 1.06 per cent, at 4,882.4, while the broader All Ordinaries had added 50.8 points, or 1.05 per cent, to 4,884.8 points.

On the Sydney Futures Exchange, the December share price index contract was 53 points higher at 4,890, on a volume of 10,840 contracts.
