WINNIPEG, MB, Oct 15, 2009 (Resource News International via COMTEX) -- The Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX)closed slightly lower on Thursday. Although there were gains in the energy sector, a drop in gold prices brought down the commodities, said market watchers.

The TSX composite index decreased by 28.27 points or 0.25% to close at 11,504.51 on Thursday. Trading volume totaled 483.5 million shares, up from 576.1 million on Wednesday. Declines beat advances 801 to 764.

All but two of the TSX's ten sectoral indexes ended lower on Thursday.
