OTTAWA, ONTARIO, Oct 15, 2009 (Marketwire via COMTEX) -- The World Sikh Organization of Canada (WSO) welcomes the announcement of guidelines by the Vancouver 2010 Integrated Security Unit (V2010 ISU) accommodating the kirpan at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic and Paralympics Games.
The kirpan is an important Sikh article of faith, worn at all times by 'initiated' or amritdhari Sikhs. It reminds the wearer of their obligation to stand up for justice and to support the underprivileged in society.
