Lately, an epidemic of Greener Pastures Syndrome seems to have overtaken PC-based business software companies. The symptoms show up especially in the annual reports of money-losing PC software companies: an abrupt dedication to "enterprise" customers, often accompanied by a couple of acquisitions of tiny companies with obscure server-based titles and an alliance with a Big Six consulting firm.
