WASHINGTON -- Anti-sweatshop agitator Charles Kernaghan is set to launch another attack on Wal-Mart today.
Kernaghan will decry the discount king's wholesome, all-American image as fakery because, he says, the bulk of Wal-Mart's private label apparel and footwear is imported.
"We're no different than anyone else," said a Wal-Mart spokeswoman, admitting that most of the apparel and footwear was indeed imported.
Kernaghan's offensive is also a vehicle for him to launch a two-year campaign to get Wal-Mart to disclose the location of its foreign factories so that human rights groups can keep close tabs on treatment of workers.
