MELBOURNE, Oct 16 Asia Pulse - New Zealand sauvignon blanc wine is squeezing the juice out of Australian chardonnay, but the market is preparing to fight back.

Sales of chardonnay have fallen sharply, giving ground to the more trendy sauvignon blanc, making some in the Australian varietal wine sector shake instead of swirl and sniff.

Global beverages firm Foster's Group Ltd (ASX:FGL) this week convened a chardonnay summit, bringing together about 40 wine makers, wine writers, retailers and marketers to discuss how to revive interest in chardonnay.
