Article: ATA Reports 26% Increase in July Scheduled Service Traffic Scheduled Service Load Factor Up 7.2 Points and Overall Traffic Up 8.4%

INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- American Trans Air, Inc. (ATA), the principal subsidiary of Amtran, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMTR), today reported its July 1998 traffic results.

System-wide for July 1998, compared with a year ago: revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased 8.4% to 1.03 billion; available seat miles (ASMs) increased 2.1% to 1.35 billion; and total block hours flown increased 5.6% to 14,814. The Company noted that it flew an identical fleet of 45 aircraft in July of both years. An additional Boeing 757 was added on August 4, 1998, bringing the fleet to 46 aircraft.
