Scientific-Atlanta Boosts Capacity to Meet Demands for Digital Cable Unit.

Aug. 5--ATLANTA--Scientific-Atlanta Inc. said it will double manufacturing capacity at its Juarez, Mexico, factory by October to meet expected demand for its digital, interactive television unit.

Earlier this year, the Georgia company signed agreements with nine cable companies which are in the early stages of rolling out a digital cable network.

Scientific-Atlanta is increasing its ability to build more Explorer 2000 digital set-tops in hopes customers of those cable companies will request the enhanced services, said spokesman Bob Meyers.
