It would seem, from what the journalist Fintan O'Toole has written, that anyone interested might learn a lot about political funding by going straight to Dublin. 'In July 1997 Charles Haughey, former leader of Fianna Fail, admitted that he had received [pounds]1.3 million from a businessman between 1987 and 1992'. That quotation opens Fintan O'Toole's utterly scathing essay on Haughey himself.
