Aug. 14--"Big sale today -- six percent off."
In the shoppers' paradise that is South Florida, that kind of discount probably wouldn't be worth crossing the food court to get to.
But that's exactly the kind of sale the state of Florida is holding for a week starting Saturday at 12:01 a.m through Friday Aug. 21 at midnight. The state is suspending its 6 percent sales tax on most clothing items costing $50 or less.
For some shoppers, that's exciting.
"Wonderful! We can buy more," said Anna Welch, a tourist from Guatemala who came to South Florida specifically to shop for her family.
