All of what you've heard is true. I did buy an extra bookcase. The review did take over my life. Friends and family--and especially my eight-year-old son--would routinely ask, early each month, "How many books this time?" I did miss a family vacation in order to catch up on the shelves of books awaiting me after the school year ended in May. But I also was treated to many excellent books and some truly superb ones, and I saved a great deal of money this year on academic literature.
Doing this review, one also notices trends, some of which I point out below, and one of which I note here. Tudor-Stuart scholarship and editions are still being published, but the ...
