I agree with many of the points Peter Cappelli made in his article. First and foremost, a vast majority of companies could optimize the way they are doing workforce planning. Companies cannot afford to bring in employees whose skills and competencies are not a match for what the organization needs nor can they afford to let their key employees walk out the door. While it is very challenging to predict the future, especially in these economic times, there are still many ways an organization can improve its workforce planning practices--to predict what is needed and determine the best ways to obtain talent.
