Aug. 22--Despite problems in Asia, the Massachusetts job market is as strong as ever.

The state's jobless rate dropped to 3.1 percent in July, the second lowest level in the last 10 years, the Division of Employment and Training reported yesterday.

Massachusetts also added more than 89,000 jobs over the last year, the largest annual increase since 1987.

The June jobless rate was 3.4 percent in Massachusetts, well below the national rate of 4.5 percent. In April, the state's jobless rate dipped to 2.9 percent, then the lowest in more than a decade.
