PAOLI, Pa., Oct. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AMETEK, Inc. today announced third quarter results. AMETEK's third quarter 2009 sales of $497.1 million were down 23% over the same period of 2008. Operating income for the third quarter of 2009 was $77.5 million, compared with $120.1 million recorded in the same period of 2008.

Net income in the third quarter of 2009 was $43.0 million, or $0.40 per diluted share, compared to $70.9 million, or $0.66 per diluted share in the third quarter of 2008. The 2009 results include approximately $0.02 per diluted share in restructuring costs. Excluding these restructuring costs, third quarter earnings were $0.42 per diluted ...
