NORTHBRIDGE - Usually, it's basketballs that get passed across the Whitinsville Christian School's gymnasium floor, not pie plates. That is, except for two days in October when the gym is transformed into a massive assembly line of Dutch apple pie production.
High school students, administrators, faculty members, parents, grandparents and their neighbors stood hairnet to hairnet between 3 and 9 p.m. on Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, assembling 5,850 apple pies that were ordered through the school's annual Dutch Apple Pie Fundraiser.
