Years ago, the late Robert Landaal, founder of Landaal Packaging Systems (LPS), Flint, Mich., saw the need to serve his customers with more than corrugated boxes. Even hi the 1960s he realized that the company, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary dais year, could add more value by moving away from the traditional supply model that prevailed at the time and start offering vertical integration.
