PEPINSTER, Belgium - Italy's Meggiorin Group plans to build and launch miniature satellites that will perform a host of functions, including services similar to proposed and existing Little low-Earth-orbit (LEO) systems, reports SATELLITE NEWS European Correspondent Theo Pirard.
The company's Megsat Space Division is developing a series of multi-payload satellites that will be controlled by an Earth station located at the company's Italian control center in Brescia. Meggiorin plans to launch the first satellite in the system, Megsat 0, in January 1999 onboard a Russian Cosmos rocket.
