TALK OF a Turkish concession on Cyprus ahead of the EU Council's crucial meeting in December has been rife for weeks, with some believing it will make a groundbreaking, conciliatory move as a way of avoiding further stalling of its already rocky course towards EU accession.
Speculation on what Turkey might offer ranges from suggestions that it will fulfill its long-overdue obligation to the EU to open its ports to Greek Cypriot sea and air traffic, to handing over the closed town of Varosha, or even going as far as implementing another EU requirement that it recognises the Cyprus Republic.
