Digicel, the telecoms firm owned by Denis O Brien, has been named as one of four firms which will be allowed to bid for a majority stake in the main telco in the Bahamas.
O Brien s firm was chosen by a committee making recommendations about the privatisation of the Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC), according to local media reports. However, Digicel could face stiff competition for the firm.
The other bidders are reported to include an $8 billion private equity fund managing JPMorgan s proprietary capital.
