Katharine Doe Chalmers, LCDR US Navy (Ret.) died at Glenmoor Resort Retirement Community, St. Augustine, FL on October 21, 2009. Born June 9, 1912 in Newark, New Jersey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Doe of Glen Ridge and Highfields Farm, Long Valley, NJ. Graduated from the Northampton School for Girls in 1930 and from Smith College in 1934. During the depression she helped run the family's Golden Guernsey dairy farm with her brother Charles. Sadly he died in 1939. In 1939 she started a successful career at the Prudential Insurance Company in Newark. In September 1942 Prudential grudgingly let her go to join the war effort, ...
