The Illinois Arts Alliance was founded in 1982 to handle funding for the arts by the state. Today, the advocacy organization now known as Arts Alliance Illinois has switched its name but still does lobbying, professional development and education work for artists and audiences of Illinois' more than 2,000 non-profit arts organizations.
