Dan Gilbert has spent $15.4 million in a political shoot-out with a coalition of horse-racing venues over the Issue 3 vote for casino gambling in Ohio on Nov. 3.
Campaign finance reports filed last week show half of the $31.7 million pro-casino war chest in Ohio came from Gilbert and his affiliated companies.
The balance was contributed by Wyomissing, Pa.-based Penn National Gaming Inc.
If Issue 3 is approved by Ohio voters, Gilbert will be able to own casinos in Cincinnati and Cleveland, with Penn National owning casinos in Columbus and Toledo.
