Chesapeake Energy said Friday it has achieved record production volumes at its "Big Four" US shale gas plays--the Barnett, Haynesville, Fayetteville and Marcellus.
Figures released by the company showed that its combined gross operated production from the four plays is now running at over 2 billion cubic feet per day.
RBC Capital Markets analyst Scott Hanold noted that this amounts to about 4% of total US natural gas production.
Chesapeake's gross operated production from the North Texas Barnett Shale--the most mature of the Big Four--recently exceeded 1.0 billion cubic feet per day of gas from 1,500 wells.
