Work has started on building a giant steel frame for the new pavilion on Weston-super-Mare's fire-ravaged pier.

Workers moved on site this week to start creating the new pavilion which was destroyed by fire in July.

More than 1,100 tonnes of steel, supplied by local firm Hayley Engineering, will be used to create the structure of the new building, installed at a rate of 100 tonnes a week.

The structural floor is still being laid and this work will continue, keeping just ahead of the framing works.
