The Arizona Republic Raytheon Co.'s Tucson-based missile business won two contracts worth more than $100 million to design and develop a system for blocking enemy rockets, the defense contractor said Monday.
The Waltham, Mass.-based company will develop the David's Sling Weapon System, a joint program between the U.S. Missile Defense Agency and Israel Missile Defense Organization. The system is intended to shoot down short-range ballistic missiles, large-caliber rockets and cruise missiles while descending on a target.
