An appeal by landowners to block the construction of a power line from southern Alberta to Montana will not be heard by the Supreme Court of Canada. Montana Alberta Tie Ltd. (MATL) is planning to construct and operate a 230-kilovolt (kV), 346 kilometre power line to import and export electricity between Lethbridge, Alberta and Great Falls, Montana.
Landowners along the planned route filed a request with Canada s highest court, asking permission to appeal the Court of Appeal of Alberta s decision to uphold MATL s Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) permit.
With this decision, all legal avenues in Canada have been exhausted ...
