ALBANY -- Next Tuesday, city voters will choose a new treasurer for the first time in 18 years.

The turnover comes in the wake of sharp criticisms of current Treasurer Betty Barnette by the state comptroller's office over handling of parking fine revenue as the office assumes greater control of city finances.

Democrat Kathy Sheehan soundly defeated Barnette in September's party primary and will face Republican Mary Ann McGinn on Election Day.
