ALBANY -- Next Tuesday, city voters will choose a new treasurer for the first time in 18 years.
The turnover comes in the wake of sharp criticisms of current Treasurer Betty Barnette by the state comptroller's office over handling of parking fine revenue as the office assumes greater control of city finances.
Democrat Kathy Sheehan soundly defeated Barnette in September's party primary and will face Republican Mary Ann McGinn on Election Day.
Both women are attorneys -- Sheehan is former general counsel at Intermagnetics General Corp., whose 2006 sale to Phillips Medical Systems she helped negotiate, and McGinn is former counsel to investment ...
