TOKYO, Oct 29 Asia Pulse - Japan holding company Nomura Holdings Inc. (TSE:8604) said Wednesday that it booked a group net profit of 27.7 billion yen (US$305.3 million) for the July-September quarter, sharply improving on its 72.9 billion yen net loss a year earlier.

The leading Japanese brokerage saw overseas earnings exceed its domestic take for the first time, as European and Asian operations the company acquired last fall from Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. started contributing to profits.

The July-September results gave Nomura a half-year net profit of 39.1 billion yen, an acute recovery from a net loss of 149.5 billion yen in the April-September ...
