Article: IntraHealth to Lead $300 Million USAID Project in Global Health Workforce, Systems Strengthening.

IntraHealth International has been awarded a new 5-year global cooperative agreement, with a $300 million ceiling, by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to improve the quality of health services in the developing world by strengthening the health care workforce. Worldwide, there is a shortfall of 4 million health workers needed to increase access to critical primary health care services, and 57 countries fall short of the World Health Organization's minimum ratio of 2.3 health workers for every 1,000 people (see also Marketing and Licensing Agreements).
