China modernizes plant, while waiting for end to Asian flu; Europeans need room for fast-moving goods as well as intervention stocks of beef and pork.
New warehouse construction plans in the Pacific Rim and Europe are running far ahead of those for the Americas, according to the Quick Frozen Foods International-IARW Global Frozen Foods Refrigerated Services Survey.
Although Pacific Rim results are biased by a lack of response from Japan this year, it is clear that China and Australasia are bullish on frozen food - despite a current Asian recession, reflected in a sharp decline for both turnover and inventory.
