Buck project to shift traffic, boost tourism
While construction of Nordstrom Inc.'s downtown store began just two weeks ago, it's already casting a long shadow down Michigan Avenue.
As the centerpiece of John Buck Co.'s $500-million North Bridge retail and hotel project between Ohio and Illinois streets, Nordstrom is expected to be a big draw in a development that will lure shoppers to the less-traveled southern end of Mag Mile, initially grabbing sales from Michigan Avenue fixtures including Marshall Field's and Bloomingdale's.
