Aug. 31--LINCOLN, Neb.--In an attempt to recapture control of cattle pricing, more than 120 Nebraska feedlots are threatening to boycott a marketing system that sends cattle to packing houses before a final price is determined.
The cattle feeders' goal is to increase prices, now in a slump that has most feeders selling their stock at big losses.
Participating Nebraska feedlots have pledged to sell only in the time-worn, traditional way -- by negotiating a price with a cattle buyer. The boycott is to start this weekend and run through Sept. 14.
