In the early months of her pregnancy in 1996, Beverly Boniello learned that she was carrying sextuplets. But doctors warned the Floral Park, Long Island, woman that the babies might not survive. Her best hope, she was told, was to reduce the number of fetuses to ensure life for those remaining. But Beverly and her husband, Rocco, refused. "It was all those little heartbeats on the ultrasound," a jubilant Rocco explained to reporters after the six babies were, in fact, born healthy.
