During adolescence, peer socialization involves a renewal of interest in peers. Close bonds with best friends and sexual partners have been assessed over the years (Sharabany, Gershoni, & Hofman, 1981; Sullivan, 1953) and have been described in terms of emotional closeness and intimacy (Sullivan; Thornton, 1990).
