JUST as our daughters try on our high heels and lipsticks, so too they try on our behaviour and nowhere more so than in our relationship with food. Many of us have difficulties with eating and while we can blame stick-thin celebrities and the fashion industry all we like, it's our mothers who influence us most.
So it's no surprise that a new survey of 500 girls aged 12 to 18 revealed yesterday that while 6 per cent had an eating disorder, this rose to one in ten among those whose mothers dieted. Equally, four out of ten admitted their mother was the biggest influence on how they perceived themselves.
It's so sad ...
