AUBURN - Dr. Arthur M. Pappas, former minority owner and longtime medical director of the Boston Red Sox, might not be as strong as when he was an outstanding athlete at Auburn High School and then a football player at Harvard University, but his spirit and his support of sports have not weakened at all.
He informed selectmen Monday night that he and his wife, Martha R. Pappas, will make a "sizable donation" toward playing fields planned for the Pakachoag Meadows Recreational Facility on 20 acres of town-owned land on Pakachoag Hill.
