Chevron Corp. and its partners in the Gorgon gas venture in Australia are set to award as much as A$4 billion ($3.6 billion) in contracts as work at the nation s largest resources development begins, the project s manager said.
The plan is to sign up three or four additional contractors in the next few months, Gorgon General Manager Colin Beckett said in an interview yesterday at its Barrow Island site off northwestern Australia. The assignments will include a company to install offshore pipelines and one to build a jetty for ships that will transport liquefied natural gas overseas, he said.
