Industrial and automotive battery company Amara Raja Batteries has reported a net profit of Rs 47.89 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2009 up by 155% over Rs 18.79 crore in the same period last year.

Net sales marginally rose to Rs 360 crore (Rs 339 crore). In the first six months, net profit surged to Rs 90.47 crore ( Rs 33.7 crore) while net sales came to Rs 667 crore ( Rs 652 crore). It made a profit of Rs 80.5 crore in the entire 2008-09.
