U.S. Navy officials are considering a project to develop an advanced missile- air- and surface-defense radar system that blends S-band radar, X-band radar, and a radar suite controller.
Leaders of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) in Washington plan to post a solicitation for the Air and Missile Defense Radar (AMDR) surface ship radar system, which will be scalable to fit aboard a variety of surface warships and other maritime vessels -- particularly for the future CG(X) Navy cruiser.
